Another Great Weekend!

"A written description would never do this piece (Love in the Digital Age) or BNC as a company justice. And the friend I brought to the performance? She was brought to tears. The audience provided a standing ovation, and everyone left feeling a little lighter, incredibly inspired, and probably a little shocked at their reactions. BNC is, after all, a company that has been nationally recognized, yet still manages to be one of the most under-rated things about Colorado next to $2 Sancho’s breakfast burritos. They are that good – yes, just as good as Colorado Ballet." states Erica Prather from 303 Magazine.

While BNC brings the talent and innovation to dance to be compared to any other nationally recognized dance companies, it is not only a night of entertainment simply to be enjoyed by elite dance affientatos. BNC's performances brings something for everyone to enjoy and a thought, emotion or feeling to take with them. Garrett Ammon, BNC's Artistic Director's vision to create an accessible and diverse dance company embracing and collaborating with the other art forms to create something even more brillant and greater than what one art form can do alone.

"I’ve danced my entire life, and I’ve seen dance all over the country. So when I bring a friend to a performance who has seen very little dance, or is not familiar with the company, I’m in for a treat. I can break away from my critical viewpoint and see the art through their eyes. I can sneak peaks of what their reaction is and see what’s touched them, what movements made them hold their breath, what music stirred their soul." shares Prather.

Bob Bows of sums up BNC's Love in the Digital Age best, "Most remarkably, Ammon offers us beautifully drawn moments of love that transcend the all too common pessimism of the age."
Last weekend Bob Bows experienced his first BNC production and Don Atwood of World Dance Reviews also attended BNC's Love in the Digital Age.

Don Atwood shares, "In his process Ammon once again uses not only his abilities as a choreographer, but also his abilities in visual arts and collaboration, finding online sources of music and text and working with their creators to build a work of art."

Coming Soon!

Last week I had the opportunity to sort of experience my first BNC dance performance. I got to see rehearsal for Love in the Digital Age! I was very excited to see the dancers perform because every now and then I can hear them rehearse to music from my office. Let me just say, the production is going to be awesome! There are so many different facets to the dancing - sadness, humor, intensity, and of course, love. The music and choreography match each other perfectly with neither overpowering the other. I'm excited to go see the production tomorrow, live on opening night, and see how the music, the dancing, and the costumes all come together!

Here are some photos from rehearsal and a short video to get you in the mood!

Why BNC’s Nutcracker is a Step Above The Rest

Posted on: December 11th, 2011 by admin

What an exciting weekend it's been at BNC with our opening of The Nutcracker.  Seeing all the BNC parents full of pride and joy to watch their children perform their hearts out on stage has been so much fun. Greeting our guests as they enter the theater has filled me with the holiday spirit too. The children in their festive holiday attire glow with excitement to watch the beloved characters come to life of stage.

Don Atwood, from World Dance Review reviewed opening night's performance and he shares why BNC's The Nutcracker you won't want to miss.

If you haven't bought tickets, it's not too late, the performance runs all next weekend as well. Learn more.
