Student Performances

Our students have many wonderful opportunities to perform. From our year-end Gala productions to the Nutcracker, our student performing opportunities set BNC apart.

Young Choreographers’ Showcase

YCS is the culminating production for the Composition class. Students create pieces and set them on fellow dancers, incorporating all elements of production, including costume and lighting design. This year’s production  is entitled, In The Along.

In The Along

Lighthouse Writers Workshop and The School of BNC have conceived a collaboration of young writers, choreographers, and dancers who have worked together to create original works. As two organizations that believe in the transformative power of art and the creative talent of young people, we are excited to pair up these young artists to create original works of poetry and dance. We feel it is a natural fit to offer artists the opportunity to gain inspiration across disciplines, and to offer the community the chance to experience their work in a live performance. Audience members will experience the multi-dimensional performance as they see the dance and hear the music and spoken word.

Student Company

Established in 1992, our Student Company gives upper level students significant performing opportunities throughout the year, including an annual spring concert presented to the public in May. Students who have completed at least one year in Ballet D and have met Nutcracker summer training requirements may join the Student Company. Contract required. This year’s spring concert will be performed on May 12 and is entitled,  Madeline Stands Tall & other works.

Madeline Stands Tall & other works

Join us for this delightful performance of favorite stories and beautiful dance. Madeline Stands Tall, a ballet inspired by the essential children’s book, is a beautiful story about being a true friend and creating a happy, loving community. Also on the docket – a new world premiere by BNC Associate Artistic Director, Dawn Fay. A great family event!

Pre-School Ballet Gala Celebration
