Square of Ice

Posted on: March 29th, 2012 by jamie-melaragno

On Saturday, March 31st at 10pm, Sarah Tallman and Colby Foss will be performing a pas de deux from Garrett Ammon's work, "Walk the Line" set to Johnny Cash's famous tune.  Why? Because Off-Center at The Jones (located in the Denver Performing Arts Complex) is hosting a 2 day festival entitled "Square of Ice - A Johnny Cash Remix."

This festival is a talent competition style format where acts will be performing their best Johnny Cash covers - everything from improv comics to ukelele players. The top 14 entries have been selected and will compete this coming Friday and Saturday evening; doors open at 9:30pm.

All of the entries will perform on Friday, followed by a live vote and a finalist showdown on Saturday the 31st.  Our dancers will be the opening entertainment for the showdown (think the guest performers on SYTYCD's results show).  Other entertainment on the 31st includes live ice carving outside of the theater and a closing performance by Rocky Mountain DanceGrass band Whitewater.

Come and enjoy the performers' Johnny Cash Remixes, and don't miss the beautiful dancing of Sarah Tallman and Colby Foss opening the show on March 31st!

Solid Gold at Dancing With the Broomfield Stars

Posted on: September 23rd, 2011 by Julia Wilkinson Manley

Congratulations to the Broomfield Community Foundation for their huge fundraising success with their 2nd annual Dancing With the Broomfield Stars last night. BNC was proud to be a part of the festivities with star Heather Drake of Flatiron Crossing Mall and BNC faculty member Collin Eckoff. Our gleaming couple, dressed in gold lamé a la 1970's Solid Gold dancers, dazzled the audience with choreography to the music of the Bee Gees. BNC School Director Julia Wilkinson Manley choreographed the dance, spending just shy of 30 hours in rehearsal with this incredibly hard-working couple.

Here is a picture of Heather last night - just before donning her Solid Gold costume:

Video and more pictures coming soon!

And a picture of our inspiration:

A side note: Check out Heather's Reign Maker page. She gives a great shout-out to adult classes at the School of BNC!!!
